Cambodia Prepares to Celebrate 71st Birthday of King Norodom Sihamoni

PHNOM PENH, April 13, 2024: Cambodia is set to celebrate the 71st birthday of King Norodom Sihamoni on May 14, marking it with traditional ceremonies and charitable activities.

The birthday celebrations typically involve His Majesty the King visiting a province where Buddhist monks chant religious scriptures and pray for his health. During these ceremonies, the King offers donations to support the development of local pagodas.

Following the religious ceremonies, King Norodom Sihamoni extends his generosity to the local community by distributing rice, mosquito nets, blankets, scarves, T-shirts, sarongs, pants, and monetary gifts to villagers in need.

In honor of the King's birthday, civil servants, workers, and employees across Cambodia are granted a day off on May 14 each year to participate in and celebrate the occasion.
